An initiative from The Tourism Cluster
In the turn of the 21st Century, The Competitive Initiative (TCI) was launched by USAID by Sri Lankan invitation to boost Sri Lankan tourism profiles, eventually birthing The Tourism Cluster (TTC) to bring together competitive firms, whose efforts developing joint initiatives explored and diversified the tourism industry. Eventually, these intrepid entrepreneurs, formed a model for future ecotourism in Sri Lanka — nine of whom proceeded to acquire a certain location in Sinharaja. In time, with great study, designs to construct a facility of eco-friendly material that minimizes impact to natural habitats were created, while responsibilities of the program were handed to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce — and the Rainforest Ecolodge finally opened its doors to the nature enthusiasts, adventurers, and wildlife photographers.
“The Company’s vission is to foster a unique brand of ecotourism that exposes international and local visitors to the natural wonders of the country in the form of a profitable business that practices the principles of sustainable development.”
To establish Rainforest Ecolodge as a Benchmark project in Eco Tourism in the Island.

To develop and promote Low Grown Teas in the surrounding areas. By hiring local workers- as much as possible- we have alleviated the employment struggles in the area and uplifted the livelihood of small communities living around the hotel.
Adventure
Whilst promoting Nature Trails around the hotel premises we create awareness to the vast Biodiversity of the Sinharaja Forest..
